We live in a world where all members of the human race are not treated equally. People and organizations people belong to are denied rights as well as the ability to do things based on race, age, religion, disabilities, sexual gender and sexual orientation. Discrimination is cloaked in many disguises.
Stand Out Youth (SOY) encountered discrimination in the advertising world 4 years ago when the program director at that time tried on numerous occasions to secure billboard advertising as a means of letting junior high and high school LGBTQ youth in the Savannah area know there was a support group for them to contact. The billboard company was at first receptive and then turned the request down when they were told the meaning of LGBTQ.
Recently an individual who is a friend of SOY decided to resurrect the endeavor and try again by contacting the company that owns the electronic Billboards that are now in the area. The individual met with SUCCESS. You may have noticed these boards on Abercorn St, President Ext., Hodgson Memorial and Eisenhower. On 9 dates starting in October leading up to the November Thanksgiving Holiday, SOY will have an ad on these boards inviting the LGBTQ youth in the community wanting and/or needing to be part of a support network to visit the SOY website.
We all live in our own busy worlds BUT we encourage each and everyone that believes in equality for all people or has experienced the ignorance of discrimination to MAKETIME to drop a short Thank You to Estus Outdoor Advertising by mail at P.O. Box 61149, Savannah, GA 31420 or e-mail buttimers@bellsouth.net for doing business in a manner that is non discriminatory. Your thanks can be expressed by mail or e-mail.
From the Board Members of StandOutYouth - Savannah we thank you in advance for your continued support.
